Deming eagle homestead park & the Nooksack river north fork area is one of the best places to shoot bald eagles in Washington state. In fact I would definitely recommend this region over the Highway 20 area. It's less crowded and the eagles are more accessible. I have not had much luck finding eagles in the actual park but mostly in the surrounding areas. Here is the official website of the park. Keep your eye open for other wildlife..I spotted a bobcat or lynx in the park..the wildlife experts will have to tell me which one is endemic to the area.

After your done with the Deming Eagle homestead park continue on truck road till it joins Mosquito lake road. In a little while Mosquito lake road crosses the Nooksack river. Immediately on your right after you cross the bridge is the boat landing - you will find some parking spots here. Around this area - in the water and in the nearby trees you should be able to spot plenty of bald eagles. As with most bird photography you will need atleast a 500m lens to be in the game! The view from the bridge is also interesting from a landscape photography perspective. I'm not a good bird photographer - so please don't take my picture as indicative of opportunities there.

After you are done shooting around the bridge area continue along Mosquito road and take a left on North fork road. After driving for a few minutes you will see a small pullout area on your left. This pullout has a great view of the cottonwood trees across the river and later in the day the trees are full of resting Bald eagles. With a long telephoto lens you can get some great shots of the Bald eagles!

As always remember to dress warmly as it can get pretty chilly. The best time for this trip is from December to February.

Thanks for the tip on North Fork Road. That made the trip entirely worth while!
